Calling all Librarians

You may not consider yourself a librarian, or even have a library science degree. But if you have boxes full of books, or shelves of books that have not been cracked open in years … I’m talking to you.

A friend just sent me this link today to a site that describes a small island community without the resources to stock a library of books. The residents of this island–children and adults–are working hard to learn to read, increasing their literacy, and in turn, their education and power.

So, as you’re joining me in this effort of minimization, please consider sending your unused books to this community, where they will be well-read and loved by many.

The International Book Project also collects books to send to under-resourced schools and libraries overseas — since 1966 IBP has sent over 5.8 million books overseas.
